Are You a Gamer?

I never thought of myself as a gamer. I don’t have a Playstation, XBox, Wii (although I think I would love it), DDR, Guitar Hero, Call of Duty on my computer, etc., etc., etc. Last week I watched Jenny Levine’s SirsiDynix Webinar on Gaming and I really enjoyed it although I still don’t consider myself a gamer. I do have Bejeweled 2 and Text Twist on my Palm TX so that I can play while I’m watching tv at night. However, thanks to Jenny’s 45 minute introduction to gaming in libraries I see the potential for learning, sharing and collaboration while having fun. Kids and young adults know about gaming and love it. Games can teach kids about collaboration and even help with teaching literacy. I know that I have to learn much more about gaming and libraries and I’m especially interested in gaming and K-12 media centers. Let the games begin!
