The weather is WINDY! They Hyatt in Crystal City is very nice. Information Today staff announced that there are about 2500 attendees at the conference including on-site registrations.
My session on “Wikis + Media Specialists = Community” took place this morning at 10:15 at the Internet @ Schools conference. About 100 attendees were present. The session went very well. Media specialists had really good questions and I had to hurry up at the end to finish on time.
I also attended a session on “Gadgets, Gadgets, Gadgets” and it was very interesting and entertaining. I will try to report on some of the gadgets mentioned in the presentation in a future post.
Another session was about new web features that people use to enhance websites. More later!
Wikis + Media Specialists = Community!
Published April 12, 2007 Computers in Libraries , Conferences , Media specialists , Web 2.0 Leave a CommentMy Computers in Libraries/Internet@Schools presentation is next Monday at 10:15 at the Hyatt Crystal City Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. I haven’t had much time to blog in the last few days because I’m finishing projects at work and getting ready for the conference. Hopefully, I will blog from the CIL conference. There should be some interesting pieces of information to pass on.
The title of my presentation is: Wikis + Media Specialists = Community!
My presentation covers three wiki projects I have been involved in for the past 1.5 years. I will let you know how it goes!

I stopped into an Office Max today for a couple of items and I noticed that they have about 15 Playaway books on sale for $20 each. If your library does not have any Playaways and you want to try one out this is a pretty good deal. Some of the titles I remember seeing on the rack include The Broker (Grisham), The Purpose Driven Life, Learning Spanish, Learning French, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe and a David Sedaris book.

I leave next Sunday for Arlington, VA, where I will present at the Computers in Libraries/Internet@Schools conference. I am speaking Monday morning. My presentation is titled: Wikis + Media Specialists = Community! I will outline three wiki projects I have worked on over the past year and a half. I will try very hard to blog from the conference to let you know what’s going on. I am excited about this joint conference. I have attended twice before and I find it interesting and invigorating to hear librarians from all types of libraries talk about their use of and skills with Web 2.0 tools.
