Firefox 3.0

I don’t think I have mentioned this before but I changed to Firefox 3.0. I was using the previous version and always liked it so I had to download this one. Firefox 3.0 is great. I’ve noticed small things that make using it easier. For example, I now just click anywhere in the URL box and the entire URL is highlighted. In the older version I had to triple-click to highlight the entire URL.

Busman’s Holiday!

I am at a local public library working on a project and it is very nice. I’m in my own enclosed room working on my laptop and using the free wifi. The person in the room next door was playing some cool music with a heavy beat but now I have iTunes on and I’m listening to some lounge music by Yma Sumac. I was concerned that it would be too hot because my own local library was too hot and humid for me to work in but this is very pleasant. There is a thermostat in the room and I cranked it all the way down but I don’t really know if I am controlling the air or not. Even if it is psychological it is working!

Friends, relatives and colleagues know that I have a thang about being too hot – I need cool air and I like to feel the air. Air conditioning is still one of the Wonders of the World to me! My Mom used to tell me that when I have company over for dinner to remember that when I feel “comfortable” that means that my guests are FREEZING!!! Back to work before I meet my sister for lunch.

Mama Mia!

I went to see Mama Mia tonight with my sister and niece and the movie was great. A funny thing about going to the movies is that everyone is asked (via the onscreen PSA) to turn off their cell phones. It seems that most people (like me) at least turn off the ringer. As soon as the movie is over everyone walks out of the theatre turning their cell ringer back on. As people are walking out during the credits you can see lit up cell phones in the dark. Btw… don’t miss the closing credits of Mama Mia! – you will miss the cast in some great costumes!

Vakay!

I am on vacation this week and today I’m working on a project at a public library. I have an article due to be published in School Library Media Activities Monthly next February (due in Oct. and, yes, I know this is early).

Fritz watches my every move when I’m home during the day – how do dogs know when it’s a work day and when it’s a day off! So, to avoid taking him on walks every 30 minutes I came to a public library to work. Please – no comments on how I let my 14 year old, 17 pound dog drive me out of my house!!! If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a thousand times – he has issues.

I came here on Monday too and I was told not to use my cell phone! I had it on vibrate when my sister called and talked briefly in what I thought was a quiet, “inside” voice but apparently not! I was, yet again, the bad example. I hope my contraband bottle of water and Reese’s Pieces are not discovered in my laptop bag. I’m not good at looking innocent because I already dropped one RP on the floor as I tried to nonchalantly pop it in my mouth. Dang, what next? My water bottle will explode and cause my expulsion for creating Niagara Falls!?

My book is now available!
