I am a fan of the tv show Mad Men. It is a harsh look at how women were treated in the early sixties but the show is interesting and I love the Edward Hopperish look and feel. If you like the show and want to have some fun go to the AMC TV Mad Men page to create your own Mad Men avatar. I didn’t do a very good job on mine but you can play with the features to tweak it before downloading.
The Information Center I work in has a new Twitter account. We will be marketing it soon. Twitter will be used to announce some book and video titles as they come in along with upcoming professional development opportunities and other events. I’m excited about it. I don’t know if we will get many followers but it’s another venue to get helpful information out to our patrons.
Sorry! It has been a long time. I have been working on a book in my personal time and developing some new professional development at work. Also new this year – I am cataloging! We have a new automated system and some new procedures so now the other Information Center consultant and I are the catalogers.
I love that the ALA Ambassadors at the upcoming conference (I leave tomorrow) have a text message number to help attendees. So, if you are at the ALA conference and have a question just text 66746 and start your question with “ALA.” The Ambassadors will answer questions within minutes from 9:00 am to 5 pm. If you text after that time you will get an answer the next morning. I love it!
I was conducting a WordPress blog workshop this morning and when I got to the place where I wanted registrants to get a Bloglines accounts there was some trouble. People were getting error messages and nothing happened. I just checked and Bloglines is definitely down (although they do have a very pretty screen with the message that they are closed on it)! Murphy’s Law – just when I wanted everyone to see how easy and great Bloglines is to use it’s down. Darn!
They all said that they would try to register for an account again from home so I hope they do because it is a great newsreader.
